A New Start

All was not lost

The report from Professor Geddes in 1975 reported that the village was 'inherently unstable'. Under those circumstances no investment in extending the life of any property should have been contemplated, with the exception of a few, including the Post Office at 51 High Street.

Extensive Renovations

After renovations of the old Post Office, Troedrhiwfuwch welcomed new residents for the first time in over 40 years. The Post Office closed in the 90's. It was then only a home to Postmistress, Linda, until 2018. With extensive renovations taking place from 2019, the new residents moved in, in 2021.

The Residents Said

"We love living here and moving to this house we were totally unaware of it's history and the vanishing village of Troedrhiwfuwch. The community welcomed us with open arms. We also respect being next to the Remembrance Garden. The community are extremely grateful for our help in looking after the War Memorial Garden & Cenotaph. We are looking forward to seeing people coming to enjoy the mural and learning the history of the lost soldiers and village"
